The Social Network Phenomenon
By papa0s0
If you would have asked someone six years ago if there was a place where college students could go to network and keep in touch with their classmates, they probably wouldn’t have had a very good answer for you. Now, six years later, your answer would most likely be Facebook. In February of 2004 the creation of Facebook revolutionized the social networking scene. Today there is a social networking site for just about everyone – golfers, cat lovers, gamers – you name it, they have it! The following are ten places you may not know about where you can meet people with similar interests and have fun at the same time:
1. Bookworms – For individuals who love to read good books and share their recommendations with others, GoodReads provides a social networking community for bookworms alike to share with others what they’re reading, what they plan to read, and recommendations for good books.
2. Photography Gurus – For people who like to take and look at pictures, Flickr is an online community designed for the sharing and collaborating of personal photos.
3. Knitting Fanatics - For people who love to knit and crochet, Ravelry is the perfect online community to share ideas, projects, and tips with other knitting and crocheting lovers.

5. Professionals – LinkedIn is a social networking site for professionals of all types to network with other professionals in their field or with similar interests, find job opportunities, provide references, etc.
6. Bingo Lovers – Internet Bingo sites are not only a great place to make a little money, but they also are a fun place to meet other Bingo enthusiasts.
7. Music and Media Fiends – Buzznet is a social networking site that was created for members to share their ideas on pop culture, music, media, celebrities, etc. with other users.
8. Bloggers – While it may not seem like your conventional social network, blogging hubs like Blogger provide individuals with a platform for blogging whether it be personal or business related.
